Richard E. Klinger, 82, of Berwick, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Berwick on May 4, 1939, he was a son to the late William and Sarah (Sponenberg) Klinger.
Mr. Klinger attended Berwick Area Schools. A skilled carpenter, he operated his own contracting business, Klinger’s Home Improvements. He and his wife, Patricia, also operated a grocery market located on LaSalle Street, Pat’s Foods. Richard loved buying and selling antiques and had operated his own antique shop. He was a skilled woodworker and wood carver who crafted items ranging from wood furniture and walking sticks to a small carousel. He also enjoyed coin collecting. Richard took great pride in his family and loved spending time with his children, as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving Richard are his children: Amber Keefer of Berwick, Vicki Berlin and husband, Edward, of Berwick, Mark Klinger, Sr. and wife, Lynette, of Berwick, Chris Klinger of Orlando, FL, and Marcy Houck of Sanatoga; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and siblings: Dorothy Buffone and Gloria Dawn Allen.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia M. (Davis) Klinger, who passed away March 23, 2020. He was also preceded by siblings: Ethel Rough, William Klinger, Jr., and Helen Creasy; and son-in-law, David Houck.
