Neil J. Cashman, 78, of Berwick, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. Born in Berwick on August 25, 1943, he was a son to the late Thomas J. Cashman, Sr. and Mae (Burns) Cashman.
Neil was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1961. Following his graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. On May 29, 1965, he wed the love of his life, the former Kathleen “Kathy” Greenly. Together they raised their family and shared 56 years of marriage. Neil had worked for Bechtel Corporation, traveling the United States for more than 30 years, until his retirement. He had been a member of Immaculate Conception BVM Church in Berwick. Prior to his career taking him from the Berwick area, Neil had served on the Berwick Borough Council, as well as the Columbia and Montour County Boroughs Association. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and golfing. His greatest joy, however, was his family and time spent with them.
Surviving Neil is his loving wife, Kathleen “Kathy” Cashman. He is additionally survived by daughter: Kim Gray and husband, Phil, Sr.; grandson: Neil Dohl; granddaughter: Nicole Wenner and husband, Kenneth III; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Addyson, Rielynn, Neil, Jr., Braxton, and Parker; siblings: Thomas J. Cashman, Jr., Margaret “Peg” DiFebo and husband, Michael, and Patricia Rinehimer and husband, Jan.
In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by infant daughter: Lisa Mae; sister: MaryAnn Moccia; and infant great-grandson: Kenneth L. Wenner IV.
All are welcome to join Neil’s family for his funeral at 12 Noon Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Reverend Francis J. Tamburro, retired pastor, will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery will follow.
