Nancy Garcia Obituary

Nancy L. Garcia, 78, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomsburg.  Born in Bloomsburg on August 13, 1942, she was a daughter to the late Russel M. Hontz and the late Benjamin and Mildred (Thomas) Klees.

Nancy was a graduate of Catawissa High School, Class of 1960.  She had worked at Bechtel, PPL, and Talen Energy.  Nancy was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg.  She was also an active member of Tres Dias, as well as the Towers Club.  She enjoyed gardening, watching hummingbirds, and scrapbooking.  Her greatest joy was time spent with her family, by whom she will be deeply missed. Surviving Nancy are her children:  Valerie Slade of Scranton, Arthur Casey Norris and wife, Patricia, of OH, and Angela Norris of Bloomsburg; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister:  Molly Lukeski and husband, Charles, of Bloomsburg, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Stephen “Les” Garcia, who passed in 2019.  Also preceding her was her brother, Kenneth Hontz.

All are welcome to join Nancy’s family for her viewing from 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday February 28, 2021 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick.  Her funeral and interment at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg, are private.  Memorial contributions in Nancy’s name can be made to Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.  Online messages of comfort and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
