Melissa R. “Missy” (Bowman) Fritz, 54, of Berwick, passed away following recent health issues Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Berwick on January 25, 1969, she was a daughter to Louise (Meeker) Bowman.
Mrs. Fritz attended Berwick Area Schools. Her caring and compassionate spirit led her to a career in in-home caregiving, a calling in which she found great satisfaction. Missy also loved animals and was known to bring in and care for wounded or stray animals that she happened to come across. She was an adventurous cook willing to try any new recipe that she thought sounded interesting. Missy’s greatest joy was her family and spending time with them.
Surviving Missy is her loving husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Fritz, with whom she celebrated 22 years of marriage on October 20 of last year. Also surviving are children: Clair (Bowman) Parks of Berwick and Gage Boom of Bloomsburg; grandchildren: Kenneth “Kenny” Parks, Evin Parks, and Alissa Parks; step-father, Jesse Rice of Rochester, NY; step-mother, Susan Rice of Rochester, NY; sisters-in-law: Monna Harman of Millville, Connie Boone of Berwick, and Linda Bowman of Berwick; brother-in-law, Chad Fritz of Mocanaqua; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her mother, Missy was preceded in death by her brother, Dean Bowman II.
All are welcome to join Missy’s family for her viewing 10 AM-12 Noon Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. A graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Harveyville, will follow. Pastor Scott Winter will officiate. Contributions to help defray final expenses may be made to Missy’s family.
