Lois Shotwell Obituary

Lois H. (Rood) Shotwell, 96, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomsburg.  Born in Berwick on March 4, 1926, she was a daughter to the late Walter and Phebe Zuletta (Krieger) Rood.

Mrs. Shotwell was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1944.  In 1946, she wed Henry “Hank” Shotwell.  Together they raised their family and shared 48 years of marriage.  Lois had been an employee of Wise Foods for many years.  Later, she and her husband owned and operated the Village House Restaurant in Berwick.  Lois was an active member of First Reformed United Church of Christ in Berwick, where she enjoyed volunteering in numerous capacities.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.  Her most treasured times were those spent with her family.

Lois is survived by children:  Olin Shotwell and wife, Kathleen, of Bloomsburg and Elizabeth Baker and life partner, Andrew Schwartzberg, of Doylestown; grandchildren:  W. Fred Shotwell and wife, Betsy, of Berwick, Gretchen Shotwell of New Orleans, LA, Jared Baker of Doylestown, and Heather Kester of Berwick; and great-grandchildren:  Sarah, Emma, Ava, and Abigail.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her beloved stepfather, Walter Rood.  She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Shotwell, who passed away April 24, 1994; her son, Craig Shotwell and his companion, Sharon Cashman; and her brother, John D. Rood.

Lois’s services will be private with her interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Market Street, Berwick.  Memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
