Linda Kobeck Obituary

Linda L. Kobeck, 75, of Berwick, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.  Born in Berwick on March 8, 1946, she was a daughter to the late Willard and Florence (Masteller) Hunter.

Linda was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1964.  On September 4 of that same year, she wed the love of her life, Thomas J. Kobeck, III.  Together they would share 56 years of marriage and raise their family.  Linda had worked at Berwick Hospital, where she had met her husband, Wilkes Pools, Bechtel, and PPL, from which she retired in 2003.  She was a 62 year member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she had been actively involved in the children’s ministries; overseeing the children’s Sunday School, helping to lead the youth group, and in 1994 starting the Pioneer Club.  She was also active with the adult Sunday School program, sang in the church choir, and was instrumental in organizing Lay Witness Missions.  Linda had also attended the Shiloh Bible Church in Almedia for the past several years.  She participated in the community chorus and enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, and traveling with her husband.  Her greatest joy was her family.  She loved planning reunions and holiday gatherings, as well as attending her children’s and grandchildren’s events.

Surviving Linda is her loving husband, Thomas J. Kobeck, III.  Also surviving are children:  Lori Trumbauer and husband, Robert, Amanda Benner and husband, Mark, and Holli Sult and husband, Christopher; grandchildren:  Brittany Kershner and husband, Larry, Rebecca Landry, Katey Johnston and husband, Bryandon, Sydney Benner, Mackenzie Sult, and Luke Sult; step grandsons:  Tyler Trumbauer and Ian Trumbauer; great-grandsons:  Riley Kershner and Isaac Johnston, who is due to arrive in July; and siblings:  Eleanor (Hunter) Kishbaugh, William Hunter, and Kenneth Hunter.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by siblings:  Marion Hunter, Richard Hunter, and Janice (Hunter) Harmon.

All are welcome to join Linda’s family for her funeral at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 116 Summerhill Avenue, Berwick.  Pastor Thomas Harmon, her nephew, will officiate.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, will follow her funeral.  Memorial contribution in Linda’s name can be made to the McBride Memorial Library Children’s Fund, 500 N.
