Josephine P. (Plish) Keefer, 103, of Berwick, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 26th, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born May 4, 1919 in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Pearl (McAfee) Plish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. “Herb” Keefer, on September 5, 1988.
Mrs. Keefer attended Berwick Schools and had worked at the former Dockey Shirt Factory and Lady Ester in her younger years.
She was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ of Berwick.
Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, word searches and reading.
Surviving are her children: Frances “Fran” Hampton, of Berwick; Harold A. “Herb” Keefer, Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Berwick; Fred P. Keefer and his wife, Nina, of Forty-Fort, and Calvin J. Keefer, of Berwick.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the last member of her immediate family and, along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Casper Plish, Sr., Joseph Plish, and Peter Plish, Sr.; a great great granddaughter, Kaliese Evans and by her son-in-law, Wendell Hampton.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 1st, 2022 at 10 AM at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with Captain Michael Buzzard, Berwick Salvation Army, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the First Reformed United Church of Christ, 301 W. Second St., Berwick, PA 18603 or the Berwick Salvation Army, 320 W. Second Street, Berwick, PA 18603.
