Joseph Gibbons Obituary

Joseph T. Gibbons, 82, of Berwick, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side on Monday, August 15, 2022 at his home. Born in Scranton on February 10, 1940, he was a son to the late Thomas and Evelyn (Hope) Gibbons.

Joseph was a graduate of Scotia High School in Scotia, NY, Class of 1957. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He continued his education at Union College in Schenectady, NY. Joseph was a Master Electrician and a member of the IBEW. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Berwick, and as a life-long Episcopalian, had served as an altar boy and member of the boys’ choir in his youth. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League Stuart Tank Detachment 1400 and was a past member of the Berwick Historical Society. He enjoyed golfing, building models of airplanes and ships, taking in Phillies games, and in his younger years, skiing and sailing. His greatest joy, however, was time spent with his family.

Surviving Joseph is his loving wife, Marilyn C. (Peters) Gibbons, with whom he would have celebrated 38 years of marriage on November 24th. Also surviving are daughters: Pamela Mahler and husband, Steven, of Mechanicsville, NY and Erin Anderson and husband, Ray, of Fort Edward, NY; stepchildren: Lydia Keefer and husband, Brad, of Berwick, Michael West and wife, Sandra, of Littleton, NC, and Nicole Siegel and husband, Todd, of Berwick; three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and siblings: Fred Gibbons of Scotia, NY and Patricia Gibbons of Schenectady, NY.

All are welcome to join Joseph’s family for his funeral 11 AM Monday, August 22, 2022 at Christ Episcopal Church, 712 E 16th Street, Berwick, PA 18603 with Pastor Troy Spencer officiating.
