John William Schraeder Iii

John William Schraeder III, 64, of Orangeville, passed away peacefully Friday, December 11, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  Born in Nanticoke on March 15, 1956, he was a son to the late John W. and Thelma (Burke) Schraeder.

John was a graduate of Northwest Area High School, Class of 1975.  Following graduation he learned to weld, a skill that served him in careers at the AC&F, Berwick Forge and Fabricating, and Strick.  John was a very creative and artistic man who loved music and playing his guitars.  He also enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, gardening, and maintaining his property.  He was a great cook and loved to make sure that everyone was taken care of.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Kain.  John will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

Surviving John is his loving wife of 43 years, the former Glenda Nevel.  Also surviving are his children:  Jeremy J. Schraeder and wife, Amy Hilley, of Shickshinny Valley, and Kayla J. Schraeder and boyfriend, Tad Sitoski, of Orangeville; grandson:  Kain Schraeder; siblings:  Pat Steeber and husband, Mike, of Shickshinny, Linda Kile and husband, Richard, of Bloomsburg, and James Schraeder and wife, Tracey, of Hunlock Creek; brother-in-law:  Charlie Eckhart of Sweet Valley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Eckhart.

John’s services will be private and at the convenience of his family.  Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
