Helen (Kapuschinsky) Collins, 87, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 13, 2024 at
Emmanuel Center for Nursing in Danville. Born in Hazleton on October 10, 1936, she was a daughter
to the late William and Helen Kapuschinsky, Sr.
Mrs. Collins attended Hazleton Area Schools. On April 19, 1958, she wed John J. Collins, Jr.
Together, they raised their family and shared 46 years of marriage. Helen was an active member of
Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church (St. Mary’s) in Berwick. She loved to
cheer on the Collins Insurance Little League Team. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother. Her greatest treasure was time spent with her beloved family.
Surviving Helen are her children: John J. Collins III and wife, Barbara, of Selingsgrove, Jerome M.
Collins and wife, Barbara, of Berwick, and James T. Collins and wife, Sandra, of Doylestown;
grandchildren: Jolynn Heckman and husband, Brian, Anthony Collins and wife, Alison, Denise Hall
and husband, Michael, Mitchell Collins and wife, Kaitlyn, Matthew Collins, Andrew Collins, and
Carolyn Collins; great-grandchildren: Gabrielah Heckman, Johnny Heckman, Audrey Collins, Amelia
Collins, Annie Collins, Luca Hall, Isabelle Collins, and Adalyn Collins; and sister Joyce Velcka of
Phoenix, AZ.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Collins, Jr., who passed
away April 21, 2004. She was also preceded in death by siblings: Julia Clouser, Rose Mashack, Betty
Ustonofsky, Barbara Trovitch, William Kapuschinsky, Jr., Raymond Kapuschinsky, Harry
Kapuschinsky, and Edward Kapuschinsky
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Immaculate
Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1730 Fowler Avenue, Berwick. Her pastor, Reverend
William T. Barbee, will officiate as Celebrant. Helen’s viewing will be from 10 AM until the time of
the Mass at 11 AM. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Berwick, will follow. Memorial contributions
in Helen’s name may be made to Maria Joseph Manor, 1707 Montour Blvd, Danville, PA 17821. The
