Grace Geraldine Eroh, 88, of Schwenksville, PA, passed away at Lansdale Hospital on October 24, 2023 after a short illness.
Born in Berwick on February 13, 1935, Grace loved to say she was “almost a sweetheart”. She was the fourth of six children born to Samuel and Lillian (Schultz) Creveling. Although she had many nicknames, including Deanie and Gerry, she was most known as Geraldine to family and friends while growing up in Nescopeck. Geraldine graduated from Nescopeck High School in 1953, and remained close with her classmates up until her death.
Geraldine attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College for two years before taking a job with JJ Newberry. While working with the company for 12 years, she traveled up and down the East coast opening and setting up stores. In 1964 she married William Gordon and they moved to Hackettstown, NJ. In 1969 they adopted their only child, Lovell (Gordon) Embree. She was the “love” of her parent’s lives.
Geraldine was the office manager of Kevil Chevrolet & Oldsmobile for over 25 years. She was an active member of Trinity UMC, where she was a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer, and served on the Administrative Council, Mission Committee, and in United Methodist Women. When not busy with something at church, or driving her child around to countless activities, Geraldine loved to volunteer. She worked with the Hackettstown Hospital Auxiliary, the PTA, the Women’s Club, and All Aboard for Hackettstown (a revitalize Main Street organization). In 2000 she was honored to be an inductee into the Hackettstown Senior Hall of Fame.
In 2008 Geraldine and her second husband, Herbert Eroh, moved to Lansdale, PA to be close to Lovell. While living in Lansdale, she was known mostly as Grace. She joined Christ UMC in Lansdale and loved being a member of the women’s group and Reichley fellowship class, folding bulletins on Fridays, and going out for meals with her church friends.
Grace Geraldine was a very social lady who loved to host parties and picnics with friends. She also enjoyed decorating for pretty much every holiday. But her favorite thing was being with her family and sharing stories, good food, and lots of laughter. In all that she did, she tried to be a good Christian, reliable friend, and loving person.
Grace Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Lovell Embree and her husband, Josh of Schwenksville, PA, and her granddaughters, Abagail Embree of Portland, OR and Peyton Embree of Philadelphia. She is also survived by a stepson, Herbert Eroh II, of NJ and many much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Grace Geraldine was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill, and her second husband, Herb. She was also preceded by her sister, Ella Eyer, and brothers William, Buddy, Edgar, and Donald Creveling.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, October 30, 2023 with viewing at 10am, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 401 Broad St., Nescopeck, with the Pastor Tawny Bernhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick.
