Grace E. (Hess) Bardo

Grace Elizabeth (Hess) Bardo, 85, of Berwick, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  Born in Bloomsburg on July 19, 1937, she was a daughter to the late Elwood and Clara (English) Hess.

Mrs. Bardo attended Bloomsburg Area Schools.  She worked at the Fulton Lamp Company and at Deluxe Homes, from which she retired after more than 20 years of service.  Grace was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  She was an avid outdoorswoman who loved hunting, both big and small game.  She also enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening.  She took great pride in her family and treasured the time spent with them. 

Surviving Grace is her loving husband, Donald E. Bardo, with whom she would have celebrated 13 years of marriage on June 20, 2023.  She is also survived by her children:  Louis W. Moser and wife, Virginia, of Lighstreet, Gilbert E. Fausnaught and companion, Bev, of Berwick, Fred H. Fausnaught and wife, Bonnie, of Berwick, David W. Fausnaught of Wapwallopen, Kirby Gensel of Berwick, Rodney Gensel of Nescopeck, and Fayanne E. Gensel of Schuylkill Haven; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and sister, Mary Lucia of Bloomsburg.

In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by siblings:  Clyde Hess, Elwood Hess, Delores Martin, and Maurice Hess.

All are welcome to join Grace’s family for her memorial service 11 AM Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1600 Fowler Avenue, Berwick.  Pastor Troy Spencer will officiate.  Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions in Grace’s name can be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA Central PA Center, 1467 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.  The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve Mrs. Bardo’s family.  Online messages of comfort and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
