Gary Phillip Alexander, 70, of Dalmatia, PA entered into his eternal rest of Thursday, January 5, 2023 at
Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Berwick, PA from cerebrovascular complications.
Gary was born on October 25, 1952 in Trevorton, PA, the youngest son of the late Reynolds R.
Alexander, Sr. and M. Elizabeth Jones Hepner. Gary grew up in Rutherford Heights, PA and graduated
from Central Dauphin East High School, Harrisburg, in 1970. He followed his adventurous spirit and
hitchhiked across country until finding permanence for 15 years on an Arabian horse ranch in California.
He loved all aspects of ranch life and enjoyed hiking, riding and prospecting. He had a passion for
discovery, an innate ability for finding hidden treasures and acquired many unusual artifacts. He had a
natural talent for crafting and worked with leather in unique designs; woodcarving was his latest
interest that demonstrated his imagination at work.
Gary loved all styles of music, played the harmonica and the guitar. He enjoyed the company of other
musicians, especially around a campfire, during many of his travels with his wife in their converted 1948
Ford bus/motorhome, which he rebuilt and designed during his time in California.
Gary is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathleen Ila Dawdy Alexander, his stepson Eric V. deLage, two
brothers, Reynolds Jr. (Tina) of Camp Hill, PA, Richard (Judy) of Hershey, PA and sister, Maryann Geiman
(Rick) of Harrisburg, PA.
There will be a Celebration of Life service in Gary’s honor, to be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at
11:00am at Hillside Christian Fellowship, located at 807 State Street, Millersburg, PA 17061.
