Evelyn S. (Sult) Knelly

Evelyn S. Knelly, 75, of Shickshinny, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  Born in Sweet Valley on March 6, 1946, she was a daughter to the late Oliver and Laverna (Taylor) Sult.

Evelyn was a graduate of Kingston High School.  In her younger years she had worked with her family at the Mark II Family Restaurant and was an in home caregiver.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.  Evelyn had been a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed cooking and gardening, as well as vacationing at the beach.

Surviving Evelyn is her loving husband, Ralph S. Knelly II, with whom she celebrated 49 years of marriage on February 19.  Also surviving are her sons:  Jeffrey Kemp and Charles Knelly, both of Shickshinny; and siblings:  Ronald Sult, Beth Scupski, and Margaret Yekel.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by siblings:  Shirley Yeninas, Audrey Ide, Bernard Sult, Leroy Sult, Sandra Sult, Laverna Romanchick,and Lillian Sult; and her Shih Tzu, Ollie.

All are welcome to join Evelyn’s family for her funeral at 11 AM Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick.  Pastor William Klebe will officiate.  Friends will be received from 9 AM until the time of the service.  Interment at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick, will follow.  As Evelyn had loved animals, memorial contributions in her name can be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.  Online messages of comfort and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
