Dora Jean Dunn

Dora Jean Dunn, originally from Berwick, PA, passed away at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA on February 28, 2023. Born in Kingston, PA on July 19, 1939, she was the daughter of Shirley Jean Baron and Robert Major. She was raised in Berwick by her mother and step-father, Charles Baron.

Dora Jean graduated from Berwick Senior High School in 1957 and married Robert A. Dunn in 1962. Throughout her life she was active in both Bethany United Methodist Church and later Emmanuel Bible Chapel, where she was a member of the choir. She was also involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship and a board member of Ministry to Missionaries. She worked as a secretary at Wise Foods and as a receptionist at Country Maid Sportswear, both in Berwick. In July of 2015 she moved to Fredericksburg, VA.  Mrs. Dunn enjoyed spending time in church activities and with her family.

She is preceded in death by Robert Major (birth father), Charles Baron (step father), and Jean Baron (birth mother). Her husband, Robert Dunn Sr. passed away in 1999. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Dunn) Fish; Deborah’s husband, Robert Fish; and her granddaughter, Kyla Irene Fish.  She is also survived by a son, Robert Dunn Jr.  All reside in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area.

Visitation will be held from 10- 11 AM on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick.  A graveside memorial service at Pine Grove Cemetery will immediately follow. Memorial contributions in Dora Jean’s name can be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 2325 Old Berwick Rd, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
