Dieter Scholz, 76, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Gardens at Orangeville. Born in Mostek, Czechoslovakia on July 22, 1945, he was a son to the late Irene (Scholz) DePaul. Shortly after birth they moved to Wiesloch, Germany.
Dieter came to the United States in 1959, at the age of 15, and graduated from Norristown High School. He continued his education, graduating from beauty school. He and his beloved wife of 42 years, the former Kathryn L. Bruck, operated Continental Creations beauty salon for 38 years. “Mr. Dieter,” as he came to be known by the many students he transported, drove a school bus for Bower Bus Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Berwick. Dieter loved flower gardening, as well as model trains. His greatest joy, however, was his family, by whom he will be deeply missed.
Surviving Dieter are his children: David Emmell of Berwick, Lauren Emmell of Royersford, and Melissa (Scholz) Varner of Berwick; grandchildren: Eric, Kira, Cole, and Jake Varner and Hannah Emmell; his aunt, with whom he shared his childhood and viewed more as his sister: Jutta Simon; and cousin: Iris Schnieder.
In addition to his mother, Dieter was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn L. (Bruck) Scholz, who passed away on February 6, 2017.
All are welcome to join Dieter’s family for his visitation from 6-8 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick. Online messages of comfort and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
