Daniel C. Knelly, 75, of Berwick, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Berwick on April 12, 1946, he was a son to the late Ralph S. and Elva H. (Benscoter) Knelly.
Daniel was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1964. He continued his education at Central Penn Business School. Daniel had worked at several area restaurants including Perkins, Arby’s, Ben Franklin’s and TA Travel Center. He had also worked at the Berwick Retirement Village, from which he retired. He had served as charge treasurer for St. Paul’s and Calvary United Methodist Churches, where he was a member. He loved cooking, even when he was not at work. He also enjoyed puzzles, model railroading, gardening, playing cards, Sudoku, and making sauerkraut. Daniel relished time spent with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Surviving Daniel are his siblings: Ralph S. Knelly, II and wife, Evelyn, of Shickshinny, and Cynthia M. Yerges and husband, Thomas, of Berwick; nephews: Jeffrey T. Kemp, Charles O. Knelly, and Nathan Daniel Yerges; niece, Jessica E. Kerr and husband, Jeffrey, great-niece, Emma R. Kerr, and numerous cousins.
All are welcome to join Daniel’s family for his funeral 11 AM, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Rick DiLena will officiate. Interment at Rose Lawn Cemetery will follow. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 5 and from 10-11 AM Thursday, January 6 at the funeral home.
