Clarissa K. "Chris" Brandt, 95, of Orangeville, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She was born in Nanticoke on December 2, 1928, daughter of the late Ernest E. and Margaret (Steiner) Kyttle.
Clarissa graduated from Scott Township High School, Class of 1947. After graduation, she worked in accounting for Wise Potato Chip Co. until she met the love of her life, Richard A. Brandt, with whom she celebrated 67 years of marriage. They raised six children together in Mifflinville. She was a long-standing member of Christ Episcopal Church, Berwick, where she taught Sunday school and was ECW president. Presently, she is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Espy.
Clarissa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved playing cards; especially Canasta, family game nights; particularly Parchesi tournaments with Richard, jigsaw puzzles, bowling, golf, and reading. Clarissa was a girl scout leader and co-organizer of the first Pet & Toy Parade in Mifflinville. She was a census collector and served on the voting committee at the polls for many years.
In addition to her parents, Clarissa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard A. Brandt, Sr., who passed away September 4, 2018. Also preceding her in death were brothers: Clyde Kyttle and Ernest Clayton Kyttle; sisters: Ada E. Kyttle and Gladys M. Long; sons-in-law: Michael Neri and Frank Brennan; and granddaughter, Katelyn Griffith.
Surviving Clarissa are her six children: Ann Stanford and husband, John, Linda Brennan, Susan Harkins and husband, Greg, Richard A. Brandt, Jr., Janet Lupini and husband, Larry, and Patty Griffith and husband, Jeff; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, James Brandt, and many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to join Clarissa’s family for visitation 9-11 AM Saturday, January 6, 2024 with her memorial service starting at 11 AM at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Gordon Smith of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, will officiate. Burial will follow at Mifflinville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clarissa’s name may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 2575 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
