Charles R. Baskin, Sr., 83, of Mount Pleasant Township, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Shamokin on January 15, 1938, he was a son to the late Luther Baskin, Sr. and Annie Margaret (Kahney) Baskin.
Charles was a graduate of Catawissa High School. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army. Upon returning home, Charlie worked for Magee Carpet and, afterward, Bell Telephone, from which he retired after more than 35 years. He was a member of All Sports Hunting Club, which he and his siblings helped to build. He enjoyed spending time at the camp, fly fishing, and fishing trips to New York with his family. A kind and caring man, he loved spending time with and talking to his family, by whom he will be greatly missed.
Surviving Charles is his beloved wife, Janet (Hess) Baskin. Also surviving are children: Charles Baskin, Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Duncannon, Roxanne Shiber and husband, Lou, of Bloomsburg, and Brad Baskin and wife, Dorothy, of Conway, SC; step-children: Robert Vandermark of Bloomsburg, James Vandermark of Camp Hill, Allan Vandermark and wife, Jennifer, of Bloomsburg, and Shawn Vandermark and wife, Jodi Marsh, of Manning, SC; his grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Baskin, Sr. of Catawissa, and sister, Peggy Hoffman of Catawissa.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by brothers: John, Richard, William, and Luther Baskin and sisters: Clara (Baskin) Knick, Madeline (Baskin) Motto, and Alice (Baskin) Campbell.
All are welcome to join Charles’s family his memorial service 11 AM Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Kelchner, McMichael and Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Chad Hebrink of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service.
