Barbara A. Eckroth, 81 of Berwick, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 10, 2015 at Elmcroft of Berwick. She was born September 4, 1933 in Berwick, a daughter of the late LeRoy and Lillian (Kishbaugh) Stimeling, Sr. After graduating from Berwick High School, she worked as a secretary at Wise Potato Chips for years until the birth of her first daughter, when she became a full-time mother and homemaker. Eventually, she took on various bookkeeping jobs from her home. As her children grew older, she worked as a secretary at Emmanuel Bible Chapel for years before retiring. Barbara was always active in her church. Her interests included crocheting, sewing, reading, gardening, and music, but by far, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring woman, who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Surviving Barbara are her daughters: Kim Miller and her husband, Daniel of Bloomsburg and Susan Celli and her husband, David of Berwick, grandchildren: Amanda Kishbaugh and her husband, Jared, Lee Smith and his wife, Becky, Michael Celli and his wife, Lexy and their daughter, Sofia, and Stephen Celli and girlfriend, Ellen Timbrell, all of Berwick. Also step-grandchildren Joshua and Julia Miller of Bloomsburg. As well as her parents, Barbara was preceded in death in 1989 by her loving husband of 33 years, Nelson Lee Eckroth. Also preceding were sisters: Jeanne Grasley, Mary Ellen Yorty, and Judy Stimeling and brothers: LeRoy, Jr., Robert, and Fred. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. Barbara's funeral is 11:00 AM Thursday at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Pastor Doug Lyon of Shiloh Bible Church will serve as the officiant. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
