Arthur R. “Rick” Fowler, Jr., 72, of Stillwater, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at Geisinger
Medical Center in Danville with his family at his side. Born in Berwick on January 9, 1951, he was a son
to the late Arthur Richard Fowler, Sr. and Betty (Laubach) Fowler Whitenight.
Rick attended Berwick Area Schools. He was a long-time employee of Ardagh Group, having worked
there when it was Heinz and Impress. He was a member of the Auxiliary to Benton VFW Post 8317, Sons
of the American Legion Squadron 273 Bloomsburg, and the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436. He was also a
long time member and volunteer firefighter at Eagle Hose Company. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and
spending time outdoors. He and his beloved wife, Beth, shared an enjoyment of riding trikes, especially
participating in benefit rides. Rick loved being around people and he was able to strike up a
conversation anywhere that he went. He also liked watching western films. His greatest joys, however,
were his friends and family, by whom he will be deeply missed.
Surviving Rick is his wife, Beth Ann (Hess) Fowler, with whom he shared eight years of marriage and 19
years of companionship. Also surviving are his daughter, Desiree Fowler and companion, Steven Rusell,
of Berwick; grandson, Kayden Diehl of Berwick; siblings: Lloyd Whitenight and wife, Ruth, of Berwick,
Betty Longenberger and companion, Alvin Johnson, of Berwick, and Melinda Rupp of Berwick; and
numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rick’s family will announce a Celebration of Life at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name may
