Ann M. (Harris) Brandt, 87, of Mifflinville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Berwick on September 9, 1935, she was a daughter to the late Walter and Gladys (Reese) Harris.
Mrs. Brandt grew up on her family’s farm and attended the North Centre School before graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1953. She continued her education at Bloomsburg State College, graduating with her bachelor’s degree in 1971. On June 12, 1954, she wed the love of her life, Mr. James P. Brandt. Together, they raised their family and shared 69 years of marriage. Ann taught English at the Berwick Area School District for 20 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Bloomsburg, where she taught Sunday school, served on the Altar Guild, and was a member of the ECW. She was also a member of the Columbia County Historical Society, Daughters of American Colonists, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She had been a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed golfing, having participated in the Rolling Pines Ladies Golf League. She was also fond of researching genealogy and traveling with her husband. She loved spending time with her family and friends, who will fondly remember her as a sweet and caring woman who was always willing to help.
Ann is survived by her husband, James P. Brandt. She is also survived by children: Alan G. Brandt and wife, Heidi, of Bloomsburg and Beth (Brandt) Raczy and husband, Mitch, of Wyomissing; grandchildren: Michael Raczy, Michelle Raczy, TJ Brandt, and Lydia Jones; great-grandchildren: Layne Raczy, Jaxon Jones, Eliza Jones, Austin Brandt, and Caelyn Brandt; and brother, Alan Harris.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by siblings: James Harris and Frank Harris.
All are welcome to join Ann’s family for her memorial service 11 AM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Deacon James Jenkins will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment at Mifflinville Cemetery will follow.
