Albert F. Everett, Jr., 94, of Berwick went home to be with his Lord and Savior, as well as his beloved Honey, Monday, February 8, 2021 at UPMC Williamsport. Born in Enosburg Falls, VT on May 22, 1926, he was a son to the late Albert F. Everett and Florence (Wismer) Everett Lilley.
Mr. Everett proudly served his nation in the United States Navy from 1941-1948. On January 8, 1949, he wed the love of his life, the late Marcella (Woll) Everett, who passed June 25, 2008 after 59 years of marriage. Al ,again, served his nation with the United States Army from 1948-1953. Upon his return home, he found work as a truck driver. He had been employed by R. G. Smith, Reading Transportation, and eventually New Penn Transportation Co., from which he retired in 1987. Following his retirement, he worked part time at Arnold’s Golf Course and the Berwick Giant. Al was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church and had previously attended Immaculate Conception BVM Church and First United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the West Berwick Hose Co., The American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, Nescopeck VFW, and the Nescopeck Lions Club. Al enjoyed golfing and fishing, as well as tending to his yard. He was also a talented artist. Al was fond of telling jokes and always kept people laughing. His greatest joy, however, was his family and friends, by whom he will be deeply missed.
Albert is survived by children: Kathleen Stahl of Bloomsburg, Sheila Quick and husband, Patrick, of Montgomery, and Timothy Everett, Sr. and wife, Janina, of Berwick; grandchildren: Scott Stahl and wife, Shelly, of Oil City, Christy Finnerty of Bloomsburg, Matthew Carney and companion, Amber Brennan, of Thorndale, Patrick Quick and wife, Julie, of Montoursville, Minka (Maria) Everett of Berwick, Kristina Williams and husband, Scott, of SC, and Timothy Everett, Jr. and wife, Janie, of VA; great-grandchildren: Julianne Finnerty, Logan Stahl, Holden Stahl, Emma Stahl, Sophia Maria Williams, Knox Everett, Libby Quick, and Ivy Traugh; brother: Jon Lilley; sister-in-law: Cecilia Croop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his beloved wife, Marcella, and his parents, Al was preceded in death by grandson: Timothy Carney; son-in-law: Richard Stahl; siblings: Walter and Florence; and step-granddaughter: Margaret Traugh.
All are welcome to join Al’s family for his viewing 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, February 15, 2021 at Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Parastas Service will be held at 7:00 PM. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 706 N. Warren Street, Berwick, with his pastor, Reverend Roman Petryshak officiating. Please observe social distancing and masking recommendations. Al’s funeral service will be streamed on SS. Cyril and Methodius Facebook page. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, will follow. Memorial contributions in Albert’s name can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
