Zola F. (Sitler) Davis

Zola F. (Sitler) Davis, 97, of Berwick, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomsburg.  Born in Berwick on December 12, 1925, she was a daughter to the late Sterling A. and Cleaetta A. (Eckrote) Sitler.

Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1943.  On October 11, 1944, she wed Edward C. Davis.  Together they raised their family and shared 57 years of marriage.  Zola was a member of Summer Hill E.U.M. Church, having been a member of the choir and served as an Elder.  She had been a long-time employee of Wise Foods, from which she retired.  Zola was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.  She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, cooking, baking, canning, and gardening.  She loved spending time with her beloved family, by whom she will be greatly missed.

Surviving Zola are children:  Douglas E. Davis and wife, Christine, of Nescopeck, Deborah K. Force of Berwick, and Lynn M. Mensch and husband, Kenneth, of Berwick; grandchildren:  Farrah Stewart, Terri Reader, Chad Davis, Marty Force, Shea Force, Megan Mensch, and Amanda Baran; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Winifred Hess of Carlisle and Hester Jones of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Zola was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward C. Davis, who passed away October 7, 2002.  She was also preceded in death by son, James L. Davis, who passed away January 25, 1977; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Davis; grandson, Scott Davis; son-in-law, Martin Force; and siblings:  Arlene Stimeling and Audrey Smith.

All are welcome to join Zola’s family for her funeral 11 AM Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick.  Pastor Susan Knorr will officiate.  Friends will be received from 5-7 PM Tuesday, March 14 and from 10-11 AM Wednesday, March 15, both at the funeral home.  Interment at Summer Hill Cemetery will follow.  Memorial contributions in Zola’s name can be made to Summer Hill E.U.M.
