Wayne G. Chapin, 65, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Monday, September 21, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Berwick on February 10, 1955, he was a son to the late Ronald L. Chapin and Donna Jean (Stetler) Chapin.
Wayne was a graduate of Berwick Area High School, Class of 1973. He had worked at his family’s business, R. L. Chapin Coal Company and later drove truck for several local firms. He was a life member of the West Berwick Hose Co. and held memberships at the American Ukrainian Citizens Club, the Berwick Russian Glee Club, and the NRA. Wayne loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and belonged to the Bryan Run Hunting Club and the RidgeRunner Hunting Club. His greatest joy, however, was time spent with his family and friends, by whom he will be deeply missed.
In addition to his mother, Wayne is survived by his children: Julie Mallard of GA, Forrest Chapin of FL, and Bridget Kane and husband, Jeff, of Williamsport; grandchildren: Savannah Chapin, Logan Kane, Austin Weinkauf, and Elizabeth Weinkauf; siblings: David Chapin and wife, Jean, of Berwick and Douglas Chapin and wife, Kathy, also of Berwick; and numerous nieces and cousins.
All are welcome to join Wayne’s family for his viewing 3:00-6:00 PM Sunday, September 27 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick, PA 18603. His funeral will be private and officiated by Kathy Baughman-Frey of Bower Memorial United Methodist Church. His interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery.
