Waunita Lee (Lynn) Young, 87, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at her home with her family at her side. Born in Berwick on December 10, 1937, she was a daughter to the late Oscar and Ellen (Kitzmiller) Lynn.
Waunita attended Berwick Area schools. She was a talented seamstress and was employed by Milco Industries and National Select Weaving Company, from which she retired. She was a woman of great faith and was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church. Waunita enjoyed puzzles and spending time with her beloved family, by whom she will be greatly missed.
Surviving Waunita are her daughter, Billie Jo Scott and husband, Michael, of Berwick; eight grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and five step-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Waunita was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Bill” Young, who passed away October 12, 1992, and children: Martin Lynn and Gaye Bitting. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by siblings: Theon Smith, Elmira Kishbaugh, Charles Lynn, Donald Lynn, and Garry Lynn.
All are welcome to join Waunita’s family for her funeral 11 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Christian Klock will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Interment at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg, will follow the funeral.
