Shirley M. (Marshman) Koval

Shirley M. Koval, 88, of Berwick, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Hazleton on December 27, 1934, she was a daughter to the late Theodore and Martha (Poltrock) Marshman.

Mrs. Koval was a graduate of Berwick High School. She was a member of Immaculate Conception BVM Church (St. Mary’s) in Berwick. Shirley was a talented seamstress who made custom wedding dresses and other items of clothing. She and her husband, the late Edward Koval, loved spending time at their cabin in Canada. Their family would spend the entire summer there; fishing, cooking, and spending time with their friends. These cherished memories will be held dear by her family and friends, by whom she will be greatly missed.

Surviving Shirley is her daughter, Kathryn Wheat and husband, Lance, of Kountze, TX, and sister-in-law, MaryAnn Marshman.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Edward Koval, who passed away November 19, 2012. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Sharon Koval; brother, Theodore Marshman; and sisters: Edith Benza and Martha Chemelewski.

All are welcome to join Shirley’s family for her graveside service 1 PM Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Berwick. Her pastor, Rev. William T. Barbee will officiate.
