Sheldon ´Shelly´ J. Ent

Sheldon J. "Shelly" Ent, 88, of Hetlerville, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Berwick Retirement Village II, where he had recently been admitted. He was born July 1, 1929 in Mifflin Township, a son of the late Franklin and Ruth (Hess) Ent, Sr. Sheldon served as a sergeant in the United States Army. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War (1951-1952) and later served guard duty in Kogi Island. After his discharge, Shelly worked at Wise-Borden Snack Foods for over 35 years before retiring. In 1953, Shelly married the love of his life, the former Izetta Karchner, with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on January 29th. He enjoyed life to the fullest. You knew when he was in the room because everyone was laughing. Shelly wanted people to smile and be happy. A very generous soul, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He tended a large, beautiful truck patch and would give practically all of the produce away. Shelly was a very hard worker and great provider for his family. Surviving Shelly are his wife, Izetta, son, Gary Ent and wife, Virginia, daughters: Linda Boudman and husband, Clarence, and Brenda Wanzie and husband Dave, seven grandchildren: Ryan Potter, Kristy Jones, Rebecca Ent, Kathryn Horn, Elizabeth Campbell, and Dean and Cody Wanzie, nine great-grandchildrren: Anna and Emily Campbell, Juliette Horn, Khaydon and Saivion Smith, Airiana Jones, Hezekiah Jones III, Rylee Potter, and Ben Swiderski, sister, Helen Kelchner, brother, Franklin Ent, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews. Shelly's funeral is 1:30 Friday, January 19th at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Friends can call at the funeral home from 12:30 until time of the service. Rev. Dr. Kenneth Gunter will serve as the officiant. Burial with military honors from a combined group will follow at Elan Memorial Park.
