Sandra Marie (Samsel) Culver

Sandra Marie Culver, 76, of Berwick, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Berwick Hospital Center. Born in Berwick on January 24, 1942, she was a daughter to the late Charles and Hannah (Allen) Samsel. Sandra was a 1959 graduate of Berwick High School. She spent her career in textile manufacturing, working as a seamstress and, later, as a supervisor. She worked at Luzerne Outerwear and Lady Esther. Her love of sewing was not confined to work. She was an avid quilter and loved making quilts for her family. She also enjoyed Bingo, trips to Atlantic City, and horror movies. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her greatly. Surviving Sandra is her son: Paul Eugene Martz, Jr. of OK, daughters: Kathleen Marie Carter and husband, Donald, Jr., of Hunlock Creek, and Bonnie Lobach of Berwick, grandchildren: Donald Carter III of Dallas, Candice Marie Martz of Berwick, Richard Paul Stotler of Berwick, Talon Joseph Martz of AK, Kristopher Ryan Carter of Hunlock Creek, Sabra K. Martz of OK, Bryan Patrick Carter of Hunlock Creek, Raven C. Martz of OK, and Chance McHale Martz of OK, great-granchildren: Brianna Garrison, Carmine Martz, Bryn Byrne, Rayce Byrne, Quinten Stotler, and Delaney Stotler, sisters: Edna Whitenight, Avis Devine, Gail Ogin, and Georgia Bellum, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her loving husband, Benton Culver, Sr., who passed away in 1981. Additionally preceding her were grandson: Sean Carter and brothers: Kenneth, Thomas, and Randy Samsel. All are welcome to join Sandra's family at her viewing 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, April 6 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick. Her funeral will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 7th, also at the funeral home. Pastor Scott Lyons of Stillwater Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery.
