Sandra (Bowes) Cornwall

Sandra J. Cornwall, 76, of Nescopeck, passed away peacefully Monday, December 17, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Berwick January 18, 1942, she was a daughter to the late Holden and Cora (Hower) Bowes. Sandy was a 1959 graduate of Berwick High School where she had been active in the Glee Club and Tri Hi Y. Afterwards, Sandy attended the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Nursing School. She had worked as a Registered Nurse at Grandview and Gold Star Nursing Homes and the Berwick Retirement Village, from which she retired in 2006. She was known as a dedicated caregiver who was always willing to go the extra mile for her patients. Sandra was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. In her youth, she worked at her family's tree farm and had always possessed a love of the outdoors. She enjoyed ice skating, boating, and taking in the views at Evansville Lake. Sandy loved music, and she sang and played piano. She cherished gatherings with her close friends. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly. Surviving Sandra are children: Charles (Jeff) Creasy and wife, Joy, of Berwick, Susan (Creasy) Owens and husband, David, of NY, John Creasy and wife, Michelle, of Berwick, and Janette Cornwall of Nescopeck, grandchildren: Charles, Charity, Chandra, Dalton, Gavin, Morgan, and Macy, great-grandchildren: Lennox and Madeline, sister: Nancy Kuchka of Berwick, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard, who passed in 2003. Also preceding her was grandson, Jeremy Creasy. All are welcome to join Sandra's family for her memorial service 12:00 Noon, Thursday, December 20 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1315 Fairview Avenue, Berwick. The Reverend Chad Hebrink will officiate. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Sandra's name can be made to McBride Memorial Library, 500 North Market Street, Berwick, PA 18603 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you live your lives the way in which Sandy did; be kind to others always, be compassionate, selfless, forgiving, and graceful. Begin and end each day with a smile, have faith, let go and let God. We should all aspire to be the light that will always shine in the dark, just as she did.
