Ruth E. Roth

Ruth E. Roth, 83, formerly of Wapwallopen, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Providence Place in Drums, where she had been a resident for the past several years. She was born July 5, 1933 in Union Township, a daughter to the late Loren and Catherine (Fink) Search. Ruth was a graduate of Newport High School in 1952. She sold Tupperware for 14 years. She also worked as a window clerk for the U S Postal Service for 29 ½ years before retiring. Faith in her Lord and Savior and love of her family were most important to Ruth. She enjoyed reunions and any time the family would get together. Shopping, car rides, fairs, carnivals, church dinners, flowers, and trips to Florida were also favorite pastimes. A loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend, Ruth will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Surviving Ruth are daughters: Judy Welliver and husband, Ted of Hobbie, Peggy Lech of Nescopeck, and Darlene Hildebrand and husband, Gene of Hobbie: sons: Loren "Buck" Roth and wife, Patty of Nescopeck and Russell Roth and wife, Kathy of Numidia: 12 grandchildren: Scottie Lech, Lee Spangler, Susie Powers, Kim Welliver, Amber Force, Andrew Roth, Miranda Costa, Shane Hildebrand, and Nathan, Rachel, Justin, and Caleb Roth; 14 great-grandchildren; step-brothers: Dale, Gene, and Luther Rinehimer; and sister-in-law: Shirley Rinehimer. As well as her parents, Ruth was preceded in death September 13, 2008 by her loving husband of 56 years, Clarence "Butch" Roth. Also preceding were 5 step-brothers: Donald, Marvin, Claude, Mark, and Luke. Ruth's funeral service is 11:00 AM Friday at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until time of the service. Pastor Oliver Brown of St. James Lutheran Church, Hobbie will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be sent to St. James Lutheran Church, 827 E. County Rd., Wapwallopen, PA. 18660.
