Rosalie B. (Hunsinger) Newhart

ROSALIE B. (HUNSINGER) NEWHART Rosalie B. (Hunsinger) Newhart, 77, formerly of Espy, died Saturday evening, February 17th, 2018 at the Berwick Retirement Village. Born March 9, 1940 in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of the late James G. and Frances (Evans) Hunsinger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald L. Newhart, Sr., who died March 29, 1998. Mrs. Newhart was a graduate of Bloomsburg High School. She had worked for Consolidated Cigar Corporation in Berwick in her younger years, was an Avon representative and was last employed by Bloomsburg University in the Custodial Department. She had been an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Espy where she had sung in the choir and served on the church council. She was also a member of the Espy Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and was a former Democratic committeewoman. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, camping and reupholstering furniture. Surviving are her two children: Ronald L. Newhart, Jr. and his wife, Melinda, of Lime Ridge and Rona L. Hess and her husband, Mark, of Berwick; six grandchildren: Nicole, Zachary and Jerrick Newhart and Noah, Lydia and Hannah Hess. Also surviving are two great grandchildren: Ava and Keisel Newhart and her siblings: Nancy Newhart and her husband, Ken, of Espy; James Hunsinger and his fiancée, Jean, of Mainville; Fran Swisher and her husband, Charles, of Catawissa; Hazel Girton and her husband, Gary, of Buckhorn and Bruce Hunsinger and his wife, Donna, of Washingtonville. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by the following siblings: George Hunsinger, Shirley Titman, Sara Girton and Lloyd Hunsinger. Services will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2 PM at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick, with the Rev. Gordon Smith, her Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Creveling Cemetery, Almedia. A Visitation will be held Friday from 1 PM until the time of the Service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
