Roland R. “Rollie” Rupp, Sr., 90, and a lifelong resident of Berwick, passed away peacefully September 19, 2025.
Rollie lived a very rich life, full of love, with Mary Lou, his wife of 69 years. Rollie served as a Supply Sergeant in the 109th Army National Guard before being employed with B.O. Daulberts in Bloomsburg, installing plumbing and heating systems for 15 years. After completing training as a sheet metal worker, Rollie worked for RADO before landing a position as a custodian at Salem Elementary School in East Berwick, where he worked for 25 years until he retired in 1995. Rollie was loved and respected by all that had the privilege to work with, for, or around him. His dedication to his family, friends, and his profession were beyond compare. In his retirement, Rollie enjoyed building beautiful pieces of intricate scrolled wood furniture, stunning stained-glass lampshades, as well as designing and building his own flint-lock pistols and rifles. Rollie’s wisdom, wit, and warm sense of humor will be forever missed.
Rollie is survived by daughter, Laurella Troy and her husband, Bob, of Berwick; son, Roland Rupp, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Mountain Top; grandchildren: Jessica Stark, Crystal Smith, Taylor Rupp, Catrina Troy, and Alex Troy.
In addition to his parents, Rollie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Rupp. He was also preceded in death by Thelma Kimisinski of Bloomsburg.
Roland’s services are private and at the convenience of his family. The Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the Rupp family. Online messages of comfort and support may be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
