Richard B. Markle, 64, of Berwick, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 27 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. Born in Berwick on November 27, 1952, he was a son to the late Howard and Helen (Masker) Markle. Richard graduated from Berwick High School in 1970. He had been employed by Lady Esther Lingerie Corp. until its closure, after which he worked at PPL. Richard enjoyed watching sports and his regular Saturday visits to Morris's Family Restaurant, where he was known to exchange witty banter with the staff. His favorite times were those spent in the company of his family, his friends, and his "work family". A caring, compassionate, and patriotic man, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Surviving Richard is his loving companion of 26 years, Holly Creasy, daughter; Heather Markle of Berwick, son; Jeremy Creasy and companion, Jill Karcher, of Shickshinny, granddaughters; Madelyn and Emma Mowery of Berwick, brothers; Howard Markle and wife, Phyllis, of Berwick, and Charles Markle and companion, Priscilla Homnick, of Berwick, sisters; Leanna Drumheller of Berwick, Kathy Church and husband, Thomas, of Mifflinville, and Patricia Hampton of Williamsport, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister; Vivian Vandermark, and niece; Brittany Wildoner. All are welcome to join Richard's family 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, August 1 for his viewing at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home 119-121 East Third Street, Berwick. Richard's funeral will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 2 at the funeral home. Pastor Susan Knorr will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick.
