Warren Leonard Baughman, Jr. was born June 7, 1928 and was the son of the late Rev. Warren Leonard Baughman Sr. and Bessie D. (Spahr) Baughman. He was the oldest of 4, including Janet (deceased), her twin sister Jeanetta (York, PA) and Harold (Myrtle Beach, SC). He married the love of his life, Doris Leora Tipton on June 28, 1946 and deeply mourned her passing October 22, 2018. They had two children: Ronald E. (wife Mary) of Dallas, TX and Kathy Baughman Frey of Berwick. He was Poppop to 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and extremely close family friends, Rich, Sherre and Dakota Briggs. Warren attended school in Berwick and was a graduate of Altoona High School; Lycoming College, Williamsport; The Evangelical School of Theology, Reading and United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio. He received his "Preacher's License" in 1946 and was appointed his first pastorate near Carlisle. He served congregations in Lycoming, Sullivan and York Counties, Berwick Bower Memorial, Red Lion Bethany, Harrisburg Calvary and Muncy First United Methodist. He served two terms on Bishop's Cabinets of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church as District Superintendent on the New Cumberland District and on the Lewisburg District. His ministry was diverse and far reaching. He traveled on an evangelism mission to Japan in 1965. On two occasions in the 1970's he was invited to participate in global theological conferences in Europe. In 1986 he developed a new church in Juneau, Alaska, which is now the thriving Aldersgate U. M. Church. He served as interim pastor at Berwick First Baptist Church, Berwick First Reformed UCC, Berwick First U. M. and Evansville U. M. For 30 years he was on the Board of Directors of the Lewisburg United Methodist Homes. For 20 years he was a trustee at Albright College in Reading and served many years on the Board of Directors of the Central Oak Heights Church Camp. He was a member of Knapp Lodge #462, Caldwell Consistory and other Masonic Bodies and was a past Grand Chaplain of The Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania. All are welcome to join the Baughman family for his viewings 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, March 10th and Monday, March 11th from 10 to 11 at Bower Memorial United Methodist Church, 140 E. Second Street, Berwick. His funeral will be Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11 A. M. also at the Church. Masonic Services will be held Sunday evening at 6 PM at the Church. Rev. Ralph B. Hartenbach and Warren's grandson, Rev. Michael J. Baughman, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Bower Memorial United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
