Ray E. Vandermark, 85 of Berwick passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Berwick Hospital Center, where he had been a patient. He was born February 1, 1929 in Berwick, a son to the late Leslie and Clara (Hower) Vandermark. Ray worked for years as a supervisor at Wise Snack foods before retiring. He also served in the Navy. After retiring, he worked part-time at Diehl's Campground in Orangeville. Camping and spending the winter months in Florida were among the things that he enjoyed most. He was a gentle and quiet man who will be missed greatly. Surviving Ray is a son, Allan Vandermark of Bloomsburg, grandchildren: Allan B. Vandermark of Berwick and Leslie Ray Vandermark of Bloomsburg, numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a brother, Roger of State College. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Claire Henry, also, a brother, Eugene and a sister, Dorothy. His viewing is 6-8 PM Monday, June 30 at the McMichael-Rairigh & Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Funeral services are 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor Scott Winter of the Berwick Assemby of God Church will serve as the officiant. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut St., Berwick.
