Phyllis June Sitler, 84, of Bloomsburg, died Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville. She was born in Berwick September 14, 1934, a daughter of the late Alfred L. and Eva (Nunkester) Ritter. Phyllis was a graduate of Berwick High School in the Class of 1952. After graduating, she married the love of her life, Richard Lawrence Sitler, and they enjoyed fifty-six years as husband and wife until his death in 2009. Phyllis worked for most of her life in retail sales. First, at the former Roberts Dress Shop in Bloomsburg, then up Main Street to Racusin's, and finally, the J. C. Penney Store, where worked for 32 years before retiring. Even after retiring, she continued working part-time at the Bloomsburg Fair and Gertrude Hawk for 14 years. She also sold Avon for over 40 years. Phyllis's interests included cooking, baking, and flowers. For years she volunteered with the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxillary at the Hospital Gift Shop. Phyllis was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg and the Bloomsburg Women's Civic Club. Surviving Phyllis are her son, David L. Sitler and daughter, Sherry Artley, both of Bloomsburg, sister, Charlotte Babich of Hazleton, sister-in-law, Barbara Albertson of Bloomsburg, several nieces and nephews, and her precious felines: "Baby" and "Punkin." Her funeral is 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 11th at the chapel of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market St., Bloomsburg. Her pastor, Rev. Joel L. Zeiders will officiate. Interment will follow at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call at the church parlor from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral.
