Pauline E. (Galanti) Carter

Pauline E. (Galanti) Carter, 87, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at her residence with her family by her side. Born in Berwick June 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppi and Josephine (Biacchi) Galanti. A graduate of Berwick High School, she worked at Berwick Industries for a number of years before marrying Joseph Carter and devoting herself as a housewife. Pauline was an avid bingo player and enjoyed attending Berwick Bulldog and Penn State Nittany Lion games. She was known for her homemade pasta and Italian cookies, especially her wine cookies. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Pauline will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. Surviving Pauline are her daughters: Maria Lewis and husband, Edward of FL and Kathy Gause and husband, Michael of Berwick; grandchildren: Edward Lewis and wife, Katie of NY, Michelle Jones and husband, Mike of NY, and Christopher Gause of Berwick; great-grandson, Ryan Lewis of NY, sister-in-law, Janet Galanti, and several nieces and nephews. As well as her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph after 47 years of marriage. Also preceding were brothers: Angelo and Anthony Galanti and sister, Gloria McHenry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 721 Monroe Street, Berwick. Father Matthew Larlick will serve as the officiant. Visitation is 9:30-10:30 AM at the church on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Pauline's memory be sent to either St. Joseph Church or Holy Family School, 728 Washington Street, Berwick, PA. 18603.
