Paul E. Martz, Sr.

November 19, 1937 — April 3, 2017

Paul E. Martz, Sr., of Berwick, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was born November 19, 1937 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Raymond and Sarah (Church) Martz. A graduate of Central Columbia High School, he is an inductee in their Hall of Fame as a soccer player. Paul proudly served in the Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960. After his discharge, Paul worked for years as a manager at the Milco Company in Berwick and later, he retired from the Heinz Company in Lime Ridge. Paul was passionate about racing go carts and snow mobiles. He also helped build and maintain sprint cars for his racing buddies. Hunting and fishing trips to Canada were also among the things he enjoyed. Surviving Paul is a son, Paul, Jr. from OK. Also surviving are 2 daughters: Kathleen Marie Carter and husband, Donald of Hunlock Creek and Bonnie Carol Lobach of Berwick, 9 grandchildren: Talon, Sabra, Raven, Chance, Donnie, Kristopher, Bryan, Candice, and Richard, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers: Franklin and wife, Trudy of Bloomsburg and Howard "Bud" and wife, Florence of Mifflinville, 3 sisters: Sis Hough and husband, Harold of Berwick, Gertrude Singley and husband, Bruce of Millville, and Peggy Ferguson of Greensburg, As well as his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean. Paul's funeral service is 11 AM Monday, April10 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. 3rd St., Berwick. Pastor Scott Lyons of Stillwater Christian Church will serve as the officiant. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 AM until time of the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Elan Memorial Park.
