Paul W. Canouse, Jr.

Paul W. Canouse, Jr., 73, of Berwick, passed away unexpectedly at his home Monday, December 2, 2019. Born in Bloomsburg June 15, 1946, he was a son to the late Paul and Gladys (Major) Canouse. Paul was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1964, and Bloomsburg State College, Class of 1969. He taught business at Jersey Shore Area School District and finished his 33 year teaching career at Benton Area School District. Paul was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the North Berwick Hunting and Fishing Club and the Gettysburg Historical Society. Paul enjoyed time with family, especially being a part of his grandchildren's and grand-dogs' lives. He often shared his talents as everyone's "handyman" and will be missed by many. He also enjoyed sharing his love of history to all who would listen. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, the former Sandra Fortin. He is additionally survived by children: Corrie Yocum and husband, Bryant, of Mifflinville and Jason Canouse and wife, Gina, of NJ, grandchildren: Caleb, Abbey, and Elizabeth, brother: Dan Canouse and wife, Patti, of CA, sister: Susan Kikuchi and husband, Gene, of Etters, and many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to join Paul's family for his funeral 11:00 AM Friday, December 6 at the Kelchner-McMichael-Baker Funeral Home, 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. His pastor, Rev. Stephen Portner will officiate. Friends and family will be received 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 5 and 10:00 -11:00 AM Friday December 6. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul's name can be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 116 Summerhill Ave., Berwick, PA 18603 (please include Bethany UMC memorial fund on the memo line) or to Stuart Tank Memorial Association, 1840 Fairview Ave, Berwick, PA 18603 (please include Stuart Tank Fund on the memo line).
