Patricia Ann Beierschmitt

Patricia Ann Beierschmitt, of Bloomsburg, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born August 23, 1939, the daughter of the late Franklin L. and Mary A. (Truscott) Aten of Nescopeck. Patricia was married to her loving husband, John J. Beierschmitt, on December 6, 1986 in Bloomsburg. Patricia graduated from the former Nescopeck High School, Class of 1957. She graduated from the Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing in Danville in 1960 and attended Bloomsburg University. Patricia worked as a registered nurse at Geisinger Medical Center from 1960 to 1979. She worked in various positions including Intensive Care Unit Nurse, Coordinator of Nursing Procedures and Staff Development Instructor. From 1979 until the time of her retirement in 1994, Patricia was employed as a Senior Management Engineer at Geisinger System Services in Danville. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg. Prior to joining St. Luke's, she was a member of Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church (formerly St. Mark's) in Nescopeck where she had served as organist and choir director for 37 years. Patricia enjoyed traveling, playing golf, theorem painting, and crossword puzzles. In her earlier years, she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi social fraternity and played cards in a local bridge club. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son-in-law, Louis Dodaro. In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by ; daughters: Jerianne Benish and husband Douglas of Irwin, and Elizabeth Hittle and husband Lance Hemmen, Lightstreet; grandson Alex Walp of State College; step-grandchildren: Jacob Benish and wife Diane, Julie Benish, and Josh Benish, all of Irwin; and "adopted" granddaughter, Tonoya Sengupta, Bloomsburg. At Patricia's request, there will be no services or burial. Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
