Paraskevi "Vivian" Christos Kokkoros, 102, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 13, 2016 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton. She was born in Arna, Greece July 15, 1914, a daughter to the late Dr. Christos and Stavroula (Papoutsis) Kokkoros. As a young woman in Greece, Paraskevi assisted her father, who was a medical doctor, in caring for the people of Arna and surrounding villages. In 1955 she emigrated from Greece to America and lived in Berwick for a short period before moving to New York City where she worked in the fashion industry for over thirty years. Paraskevi enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, sewing, and traveling. As a very giving and charitable person, her faith in the Lord was a major aspect in her life. Paraskevi is survived by four nieces: Stavroula Marinakos of Berwick, Stavroula Kokkoros of Greece, Paraskevi Kokkoros of Greece, and Stavroula Kokkoros of N.Y.; two nephews: Strate Marinakos and his wife, Mary Ann of Berwick and Christos Kokkoros and his wife, Katerina of Greece; four great-nephews: John Tsirigotis and his wife, Stefani of Tioga, Nikitas Tsirigotis of TX., Nikitas Marinakos of Berwick, and Elias Kokkoros of Greece; and great-grandnephew: Alexander Tsirigotis of Tioga. In addition to her parents, Paraskevi was preceded in death by five brothers: Menelaus, George, Elias, Basilios, and Petros and a sister: Helen Marinakos of Berwick. Paraskevi's funeral service is 10:00 AM Thursday at the Holy Annunciation Orthodox Church, 1228 Second Avenue, Berwick. Father Michael Demko will serve as the officiant. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
