Neil Eugene Smith, 87, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Shickshinny on October 26, 1937, he was a son to the late Carl and Mildred (Rule) Smith.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1955. He enjoyed a long career in banking and had also worked in real estate. Neil was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Berwick, served as an organist to the First Baptist Church of Berwick, and was a member of the Rotary Club of Berwick. He was a quiet, humble and very handy individual who found enjoyment in home improvement and maintaining his property. He loved spending time with his family, who will fondly remember him as a kind, giving, and happy man who remained strong and never complained, despite the health issues that he faced.
Surviving Neil are his wife, Sharon (Capece) Smith, with whom he celebrated 14 years of marriage on February 25; children: Amanda Kishbaugh and husband, Jared, of Berwick, Lee Smith and wife, Rebecca, of Berwick, Danny Smith and wife, Karen, of Solon, OH, Janette Adams and husband, Jeffrey, of Bath, Mildred Hujcs of Easton, and Donald Smith of Allentown; grandchildren: Luke Kishbaugh, Calvin Smith, Lauren McPherson and husband, Brett, Kevin Smith and wife, Jenna, Jacob Merda-Adams and wife, Mallory, and Jason Adams and wife, Jackie Valori; four great-grandchildren; brothers: Olen Smith and wife, Carol, and Kent Smith and wife, Kathie; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by a brother, Zane Smith.
Neil’s Funeral Service will be 6 PM Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Berwick Assembly of God, 801 E 5th Street, Berwick, with Pastor Scott Winter officiating. Friends will be received from 4 PM until the time of the service at 6 PM. Memorial contributions in Neil’s name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Berwick, 320 N Market Street, Berwick, PA 18603.
