Nancy E. Vought, 74, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday, June 8, 2018 at Grandview Health Care in Danville. Nancy was born on August 7, 1943 in Berwick, to the late Harold and Elizabeth Davis. She graduated from Berwick High School and completed numerous courses at Bloomsburg University. Nancy was known as being very compassionate and generous by family and friends. Whatever it was that she set out to do, she wanted the end result to be the best it could be. While her children were young, Nancy crocheted blankets; she was known for making decorative pillows, as well as dresses to include a wedding and prom gowns. Family meant a lot to Nancy. She and her husband always made time for family outings and yearly vacations to the Jersey Shore or Lake Wallenpaupack. She helped coordinate a yearly tea party for the Seely Cousins. Nancy was very active in community service. She assisted with her daughters' girls scouts troops. She served as chair for the Bloomsburg Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB) and as member for several years. She worked at Bloomsburg University for 23 years. Upon retirement, she was granted non-instructional emerita. Nancy started her career at BU as a Green Thumb and advanced to executive assistant for Dr. Jessica Kozloff, former university president. For several years, she worked under the direction of Dr. Jack Mulka, administering the Celebrity Artist Series. She also played a key role in the development of the Provost's Lecture Series. Dr. Mulka shared Nancy "had amazing energy, creative ideas and worked tirelessly for the betterment and advancement of the university." She also worked as an administrative assistant for Dr. Sharma. Her career culminated as executive assistant to Dr. Kozloff. She developed great friendships during her time at BU and continued to remain good friends with Jack, Jessica and many other colleagues. Prior to her retirement from BU in 2003, Nancy and her husband purchased a historical home on ‘College Hill' in Bloomsburg. After extensive renovation completed by Nancy and Ray, they opened College Hill Bed and Breakfast in 2005 and welcomed their first guests. As co-owner and Innkeeper, Nancy managed the daily operations of the business. She always wanted the best experience for her guests, going above and beyond. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Bed & Breakfast Inns (PABBI). Nancy is survived by her husband, Ray, of Bloomsburg and four daughters: Sandra (Charles) Stauffer, of Berwick, Julie (Brian) Yohe, of Berwick, Carin Daughtery, of Drums and Valerie (John) Frey, of Puyallup, WA and three grandchildren: Clarissa, Katie and John III.
