Mary Jane Laubach, 71, of Berwick, passed away Monday December 2, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born in Danville on July 10, 1953, she was a daughter to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Scala) Kachurka.
Mary Jane attended Berwick Area Schools. She worked at the Berwick Hospital for many years before becoming a teacher’s aid at the Berwick Area School District, from which she retired. She had been a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Berwick. Mary Jane enjoyed spending time with her friends and held membership at the American Ukrainian Citizens Club, The Berwick Russian Glee Club, The Slavonic American Club, Eagle Hose Company, The West Berwick Hose Company, and the Catholic War Veterans. Mary Jane also like shopping, dining out, traveling, and spending time around her pool.
Surviving Mary Jane are her son, Mark Laubach and wife, Marijo, of Nescopeck; grandchildren: Nathan Laubach and wife, Amanda, of Meshoppen, Matthew Zajkowski of Monroe Township, Molly Seward and husband, Ryan, of Mehoopany and Christopher Leonard and companion, Taylor Engel, of Mountain Top; great-grandchildren: Isabella Laubach, Lily Leonard, Evelynn Seward, and Riley Seward; and siblings: Joseph Karchurka and Ann Hargett.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 51 years, Brian D. Laubach, who passed away February 25, 2020.
Mary Jane’s Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Kelchner, McMichael and Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Reverend William T. Barbee will officiate. Friends will be received from 5-7 PM Monday, December 9, 2024, and from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Memorial contributions in Mary Jane’s name may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) 424 E. 92nd St, New York, NY 10128-6804.
