Mary Jane C. (Sabatino) Hunter

Mrs. Mary Jane C. Hunter, 92, of Berwick and later Nescopeck, was called home by her Saviour on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided for the past year.

Mary Jane was born in Berwick on June 4, 1928 to the late John Sabatino and the late Mildred (Barbotti) Sabatino.  She was a graduate of Berwick High School and was employed as a bookkeeper for many years with several firms throughout the area, including Giles Drilling Company and Masonry Preservation Services.  She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Berwick.  Mary Jane loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, camping, and attending church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Hunter and her brother, John Sabatino, Jr., also of Berwick.  She is survived by a son, Lawrence Rudy of Fort Mill, SC and his wife, Glenda, her grandaughter, Sarah Herr (Jonathan) of Taylors, SC, her grandson, Matthew Rudy of Columbia, SC, her sister, Geraldine Wozniak of Berwick, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Arrangements are being made by the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc. of Berwick and her interment will be in Elan Memorial Park of Bloomsburg.  Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, no funeral services are planned for this time.  When it is safe for family and friends to gather, a memorial service will be scheduled.  In the meantime, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 721 Monroe Street, Berwick, PA 18603.  Online messages of love and support can be left at www.kelchnerfuneralhome.com.
