Marvin Larry Pifer, 79, of Berwick, died Sunday, May 25, 2025 at his home. Born in Berwick on May 15, 1946, he was a son to the late Oscar and Dorothy (Belles) Pifer.
Mr. Pifer was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1964. Following graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Marvin had worked at Design Homes, Deluxe Homes, and Design Group, from which he retired. He was a member of Evansville Community Church, as well as the North Berwick Hunting and Fishing Club and the NRA. He was also a life member of the West Berwick Hose Company. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as motorcycling and mowing grass. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving Marvin are his companion of 28 years, Joanne Grindstaff; son: James M. Pifer and wife, Christina, of Berwick; step-son: Eric Van Pelt of Nescopeck; grandchildren: Riley Pifer and Isaac Pifer; sister, Judy Pifer of Berwick; and numerous cousins.
Marvin’s funeral will be 11 AM Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Pastor Max Sitler will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Interment at Elan Memorial Park with Military Honors will follow the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marvin’s name may be made to Evansville Community Church, 8 Lights Road, Berwick, PA 18603.
