Marvin F. Brown, Jr.

Marvin F. Brown, Jr., 92, passed away on June 2, 2025 at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Berwick. Born on August 31, 1932, he was the son of Marvin and Minnie Brown. Marvin spent much of his life in the banking field both in Berwick and Binghamton, New York.

He enjoyed many activities during his lifetime – hunting with his friends at a camp on Walton Mountain, buying and selling antiques, and spending time in his workshop. He especially loved finding old oil lamps and restoring them to their original beauty.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Joanne Hoida Brown of Berwick; daughter, Linda Brown, and her husband, Danny Davis, of New York; step-son, Jan Hoida and his wife, Mary; sister-in-law Carol Chambers; brothers-in-law: William Waltman and wife, Aileen, and Jerry Waltman and wife, Bernadine; and granddaughter Megan Peterson Haas and husband Jeremiah, along with two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Beverly Waltman Brown; and daughter Joy Peterson, son-in-law Ron Peterson, and daughter Gail Haley.

Marvin’s memorial service will be 11 AM Friday, June 13, 2025 at the Kelchner, McMichael & Readler Funeral Home, Inc., 119-121 E. Third Street, Berwick. Lay speaker Kathy Baughman Frey will officiate. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery Annex is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marvin’s name may be made to a veteran support organization of the donor’s choosing.
