Martin E. "Ernie" Stahley

Martin E. “Ernie” Stahley, 76, of Catawissa, died Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Berwick.  Born in Kingston on February 17, 1948, he was a son to Ernest M. Stahley and Marie Murray Stahley of Prospect St., Wilkes-Barre, PA.

He graduated from Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Class of 1966. Ernie attended both Lackawanna Junior College and Luzerne County Community College while working at his retail grocery job.  He went on to work for R. L. Fitzwater in Scranton. Ernie and Gay Roberts of Kingston, PA were married on January 16, 1971. They lived in Wyoming, PA for 42 years and owned Petpourri, a pet store located in the Midway Shopping Center. Ernie was active in the Wyoming Methodist Church, Wyoming Lodge and was a member of Wyoming Borough Council for 16 years. In recent years, he regularly attended the Catawissa Senior Center where he had a good time with all of his friends.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kristen M. Dougherty and his sister, Betty O’Konsky. He is survived by his wife, Gay, his son Eric (Jennifer), son-in-law Jack Dougherty, grandsons, Dominic Paglianite, Jacob Stahley, and Aniello Dougherty, sister Marie Sturdevant and brother, William Stahley, also many nieces and nephews.

Ernie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial gifts be made to a charity of the giver’s choice.
