Martha E. Yost

Martha E. (Walk) Yost, 99, of Berwick, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Berwick. Born in Pond Hill on July 14, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Howard J. and Esther (Santee) Walk.

Martha was a graduate of West Hazleton High School, Class of 1944, and continued her education at Empire Beauty School. On October 22, 1948, she wed Edward A. Yost, with whom she would raise a family and share 54 years of marriage. Martha was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Berwick, where she had participated in the Women’s Circle. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, baking, playing piano, and teaching others to play the piano. More than anything, she loved spending time with her beloved family and friends, by whom she is greatly missed.

Surviving Martha are her children: Karen E. Hiller and husband, Stephen, of Berwick and Drs. Edward C. Yost and Patricia Robinson of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter, Emme Yost of Friendsville, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward A. Yost, who passed away April 13, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter Linda, her sister, Eva V. Walk, and brother, Elmer J. Walk.
